Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed by the label's first female artist with Dreamville Records by J. Cole. The label released her first album titled Pho in the month of October of 2016 when she began to gain recognition. Her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox began posting her music to the internet in 2012 as she released her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. Ari Lennox continued uploading her music on the internet, including her self-released single Bound. The track Sweat it is included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21st, 2015. J. Cole asked her to join him in collaboration for Rihanna's reference. In the following season, the music was played around Dreamville. On the 8th of December, it was announced that she was contracted to Dreamville Records. Backseat is a track that she sang with Cozz in her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. In October 21st, 2016, her debut EP was released titled Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change and also performed in The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as opening performance. In 2018, she appeared in two songs with the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first track Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16. A music clip was then followed by a short video in September. She released her second single, Grampa on November 9. Two singles more were released on the 11th of November, titled Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded alongside Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on 16 November. It was then released as a standalone single in February 2019, to coincide with the release of her debut album. A music video debuted 20 February 2019 in order to go along with the track. Within one period of a week, the video had more than 3,000,000 views. As a support act she performed in concert with 6LACK in December 2018 on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
